Frequently Asked Questions

When and where is WEA happening?

Friday the 21st of July through to Sunday 23rd July. We will arrive from 6pm on Friday and depart at 3pm in the afternoon on Sunday.

We're headed to Youthworks Waterlsea Centre - situated along the picturesque Shoalhaven River near Nowra, just 2 hours south of the Shire.  We have sole use of the centre for the weekend. Its on flat and level ground and is family friendly and accessible to all.

What is our theme?

Vital Signs: A spiritual health check.

We'll be spending time considering what motivates us to be walking out our faith and what things stand in our way.

Who is our Guest Speaker and what will we be studying?

Andrew Hudson is our guest speaker. He'll be highlighting different people in the bible and on what they have to teaxh us about finding zeal for the Lord.

What can I expect?

The weekend will include 3 gatherings where we'll sit under God's word, sing, pray and spend time discussing and reflecting together and individually.

The program will allow us to  spend time relaxing and enjoying each other's company. We have taken on feedback from previous years and created a program that is flexible for all members, providing plenty of time for activities to get involved in. Your'e welcome to participate in as many or as little as you would like.

Is there a children's program?

There are many activities planned for the kids both in and out of our formal sessions. More information will be sent to parents prior to  the weekend.

Why should I come full-time?

We encourage all members to consider staying full-time. One of the benefits of going away together (as opposed to just Saturday) is that you gift yourself more free time to meet others and enjoy developing deeper friendships in a fun and relaxed environment.

WEA is more than just session time. Our aim is to build a community of God's people in fellowship together. This year we encourage you to go a step further than you have in past years. If you have previously attended for the day, please consider staying over one night. If you have attended one night, why not enjoy two!? Our Friday night gathering is not to be missed!

What is the centre like and where will i sleep?
The dining and meeting hall are separate spaces and accommodate over 180 people. All the spaces have great heating, sound and audio technology, and wonderful views of the Shoalhaven river. All bedrooms have an ensuite bathroom, air conditioning/heating, single and double beds, doonas, pillows and blankets.

Click here to see directions from GAC to Waterslea on google maps. The address is 439 Koloona Dr, West Cambewarra NSW.

What do we need to bring?

We'll make available a detailed list of what to bring closer to the time. However, a few things to get you started include warm clothing, sheets, pillowcase and towels (doonas and pillows are provided), toiletries, your bible, and pen. Linen packs can be hired for an additional expense when you register. We will have a bookstall available both at WEA and at church the following week!

What about meals?

Meals are fully catered from supper on Friday evening through to lunch on Sunday. There will be an 'opt in pizza dinner' on Friday for an additional cost.  If you have  food allergies or special food requirements please let us know when you register so we can ensure you are catered for.

What about COVID-Safety?

Youthworks is a registered Covid-Safe venue and will be operating within the NSW Government guidelines, similar to what you encounter at church each week. The WEA Committee will work with the Youthworks team to ensure there are high standards of hygiene and we will ensure that all government regulations are met. The Nowra centre has a large capacity and will accommodate any changes in room capacities if required. We will communicate closer to our time away more specific details if needed.

What if I need help with transport?

Please dont let transport stop you from coming to WEA! Waterslea is only accessible by car. Trains are operational to Bombaderry. We can make arrangements to pick you up from the station but we we suggest travelling with friends. If you need to be connected with a ride from the Shire or Bombaderry Station please let us know when registering. We can help connect you with a lift  and if there is sufficient need we will organise a minibus for transport.

What is the cost and what if it's too much?

Whilst trying to keep costs low we understand that WEA is a considerable expense. We have had some generous donations to help us with being able to offer assistance. We have provided a variety of options and we invite you to talk with us if you would like assistance with the cost. Costs are varied depending on your family makeup and are listed on the registration page. For families of 3 or more people please get in touch with Julia Harrison (0425 356 243) or Matthew Robson (0423 181 794)
